FAQ
Technological process
Finished products such as floorboards, parquets or stairs must be subject to time consuming technological process to gain appropriate physical and aesthetic values. A proper choice of times and meeting specific requirements are of great import for the future use of the flooring.
Typical features of wooden floors
Our floorings are completely natural, hypoallergic, of excellent sound and thermal insulation. They create a wonderful atmosphere of interiors by giving them warmth and elegance. As completely natural and hygroscopic products they react to changing conditions, thus increased air humidity causes absorption of water and enlargement which is reversed in case of decreased air humidity. This may result in changes of woodblock’s shape and dimension and lead to occurrence of cracks if air humidity is to low or to high for a long period of time. To minimize such effects a climate of interior should be as close to natural human conditions as possible, that is 45-60% relative air humidity and temperature around 18-22ºC. This problem has been eliminated or largely reduced for beveled floorboards. Slightly beveled edges efficiently hide possible cracks, if the interior is overdryed and natural “work” of the flooring becomes less visible then.
Assembly
Before you start assembly, all the wet works (such as painting, laying terra cotta etc.) must be completed. Then control a ground’s moisture content as it shall not be too high (cement one max. 2% CM, slag-sulphate one max. 0,5%, wooden max. 13%). Moreover, check if the ground is appropriately insulated and flooring is flat, clean, emits no dusts and has no cracks. In case of assembly on OSB boards the surface must be grinded. Humidity of interiors, where the flooring is going to be assembled, shall be 45 – 60% at temperature of 18 - 22ºC. Another step is to check delivered material. Any failures or shortages shall be reported to the seller. Laying floor of material with failures shall cause rejection of claims arising from the warranty. If all these conditions are met, we may start to work. Appropriate chemical compounds shall be used for laying the floor (the best choice would be a whole set from one reliable supplier covering base primer used for preparing the ground, glue selected according to the sort of wood and size of woodblock and finishing products such as varnishes or oils). It is necessary to preserve appropriate intervals between particular stages of assembly, that is wait for a few days after laying the floor (according to suggestions of glue manufacturer), and then after grinding and laying subsequent protective layers. After varnishing and oiling the floor shall be exploited as little as possible for around 8-10 days so that protective layer could harden.
Utilization and maintenance of varnished floors
Wooden floors are natural products, which means that preservation of their primary shape requires avoidance of sudden changes of air humidity and temperature. The optimum humidity is 45 – 60% at the temperature of 18 - 22ºC. Work of the wood can be limited by meeting recommended conditions (e.g. by use of humidifiers during heating period) but cannot be eliminated at all. Mechanical damages can be prevented by applying fleece spacers under the furniture or avoiding high heel shoes which always leave a trace. To avoid scratches we may use a mat at the door which would absorb dirt and sand which is so dangerous. Wood absorbs water very quickly that is why any poured liquids shall be removed immediately and no plants shall be put directly on the floor. Scratches and mechanical damages which occurred as a result of such events shall not be subject to warranty. In case of emergency, such as flooding or pouring a chemical substance, contact the manufacturer or seller immediately.
General description of oiled floorings.
Loaded surfaces covered with Osmo system are highly resistant to daily dirt (from shoes, stains etc.). Osmo covers are advanced mixture of natural oils (linseed, sunflower, thistle, soybean oil) and hard natural plant waxes (carnauba, candelila). Pigments used for Osmo dyes are also utilized in food production what means that they are fully natural and ecological. Our products are well protected but it does not mean that we need not take care of them. The largest threat for oil-wax layers is a sand under the load of human body, as the external layer is very hard and can be scratched. That is why surface maintenance is of great import in case of Osmo covers. In course of maintenance we complete the layers of hard waxes (carnauba, candelila) which are systematically worn. Floorings covered with this system are durable and maintenance is complete and easy to apply.
Suggestions on current and periodical maintenance.
1. Protect your furniture with fleece spacers.
2. Put a specialist protective mats under the armchairs equipped with wheels.
3. Apply dirt collection system (mats at the door etc.). Well-designed system of mats shall consists of 3 cleaning zones: rough, intermediate and drying. In case of public use dust collection system shall consist of at leans 2.5 m of cleaning measures.
4. Remove sand and dust from the Osmo cover as they appear (hoovering, cloth, mop).
5. Separate rubber elements of equipment or objects from the Osmo covers (they can react with a rubber).
6. Use the cleanser Wisch Fix 8016 for everyday cleaning (according to recommendations included in the application card). Always wash the floor with wet but not soaking mop (dry the excessive moisture with a cloth).
7. Remove larger stains with a cleansing spray 3031 or the cleanser fot renovation of wax 3029 (according to recommendations included in the application card).
8. Any visible damages are nothing more than scratches on the hard wax covers which shall be removed by application of the cleanser for wax renovation 8016 (according to recommendations included in the application card). In case of private apartments such operation shall be made a few times a year (1-4) (for visible damages – communicational tracks). In case of public use this product shall be applied once a week (it can be done either by the user or by the company which provides parquet-related services).
9. During renovation works secure the flooring (e.g. with a cartoon).
10. Deep damages of Osmo covers shall be carefully grinded with paper of granulation 120, then remove dust and spread (with a cloth) appropriate number of oil wax layers (3032 or other applicable oil wax).
Cleaning and maintenance of oiled floorings.
DAILY MAINTENANCE / CLEANING:

DAILY WASHER WISCH FIX 8016
Used for daily maintenance of oiled Osmo floorings, any varnished or stone floors, tiles, cork, plastics, PCW and other waterproof surfaces. It should be applied in the following proportion: one cap per 1 liter of water. For deep (periodical) cleaning use the washer in proportion 1:1. Clean with a brush and collect dirt with a cloth.

Note!!!
Before you start to work hoover or broom the flooring. For cleaning the floorboards use two buckets (one with a clean water used for swilling out a dirty mop, the second one contains Wisch Fix for soaking a clean mop). It is extremely important not to flood the floor but just rub it with a wet mop with Wish Fix.

STAINS REMOVAL / MAINTENANCE:

A CLEANSER FOR WAX MAINTENANCE 3031 SPRAY
To remove local dirt (scratches from soft shoes, stains) use this 3031 spray (put a thin layer of cleanser and remove the stain with a cloth). It also completes the wax surface which means that it can be used for local repairs (after gringind a damage/scratch remove dust, spray the cleanser and rub with a dry cloth). It can be also used locally for cleaning and maintenance of parquet and furniture surface (spray and rub with a cotton cloth).

PERIODICAL RENOVATION AND CLEANING OF OSMO COVERS:
RENOVATION AND CLEANING OF OSMO COVERS:

A CLEANSER FOR WAX RENOVATION (3029 or 3087)
Use a cleanser for wax renovation (Wachpflege 3029 or 3087 Wachpflege White) to restore damaged parquet surface.

I FUNCTION OF THE RENOVATION:
Spread a thin layer of the cleanser for wax renovation 3029 (microfiber mop, cotton cloth) on a clean a dry surface of Osmo cover. Do it in such way to avoid treading the layer. After 30 minutes the surface is ready for use. To obtain a shine, polish it with a white fleece or cotton cloth after drying. Remember to use this cleanser for maintenance of intensively exploited surfaces where the hard wax cover can be easily damaged. In case of private apartments such operation shall be made 1-4 times a year. For public use (restaurants, dance halls) it is necessary to spread the cleanser at least once a week.

II FUNCTION OF DIFFICULT STAINS REMOVAL:

A cleanser for wax renovation 3029 can be also used to remove so called “difficult stains”. Spread a little doze of cleanser over the stain, leave for a few minutes and collect a softened dirt with a cotton cloth.

OPTI SET / MOP WITH ENDS (DUST, CLEANIND, RENOVATION)
Opti set for floorings maintenance is equipped with ends of high quality (for dust removal, cleaning, renovation). It will make the maintenance of Osmo covers easier and more effective.

REMOVING DAMAGES - SCRATCHES

If any damages occur on the parquet surface, grind them with unwoven fabric by local polishing, remove dust and spread the wax layer (e.g. with a cloth). After completing the surface with hard oil wax (3032, 3062, 3232, 3262, 3030) collect the excess with a cloth.

THREATS FOR OSMO COVERED SURFACE

The major threat for floorings is sand adhered to shoes of the users. A special attention should be paid to providing appropriate dirt collection system (before the entrance and inside). Condition of Osmo covered floorings will also depend on how often they are cleaned with Wish Fix 8016 and completed with cleanser for wax maintenance (Wachspflege 3029 and Spray 3031).
